Researcher at the Social Science Research Center Berlin
Johannes Gerschewski is a research fellow at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and an associated research fellow at the Institute of Asian Studies of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies Hamburg (GIGA). He is a member of a larger project group at WZB that deals with the conditions of stability of autocratic regimes and why some autocracies are better suited to overcome times of crises than others. In his work, he compares East Asia’s autocracies and focuses especially on the situation in North Korea.
