The G-20 before the Hamburg Summit - problem-solver, overrated or part of the problem?

In July 2017, leaders of the G20 nations will gather in Hamburg, Germany, for their annual summit, discussing matters of international cooperation among the world’s most powerful economies. Since the summit falls during a period of heightened international turbulence, the outcome and ambition of the G20 process under Germany’s leadership is highly uncertain. With growing anti-globalist sentiments in key member countries, the G20 faces fragmentation. This session brings together representatives from G20 engagement groups and civil society in order to debate the core question of this dilemma: Can the G20, under these circumstances, still enable solutions to the challenges of sustainable development and economic stability?
