Minister calls for action as animal feed dioxin scandal spreads
I expect something like this to happen in China (contaminated baby milk), but here in Germany? I wonder how long we'll be playing the 'pass the buck' blame game and how long before the culprits are finally dealt with. Corruption is deadly too. -- Vera, Germany
Just when I think Germany is the leader in common sense, this is revealed. Is there no one we can trust? -- Toni, US
Dioxin egg scandal spreads across Germany
Do you trust the food safety measures in place?
I have no faith in the EWG's food safety measures. Insufficient control seems to be the norm so far as the animal feed manufacturers are concerned. -- Michael, Great Britain
Money moves the world of production the same way that it rules everything around it. Even when we try to use better products in our diet, we do not really know if the dealer is mocking us to his/her own benefit without taking into account our health. Who will be judged when the food safety bubble reaches the limit and explodes? This issue now reaches the European frontier but it was discussed in the US long ago. Here, the boundaries of who was to be blamed and what would be the consequences were by no means clear. This is why I recommend people not to be obsessed with what's on the label and to consume foods which are not processed like fruits, pulses, vegetables, rice and things like that. -- Soledad, Spain

German farmers call for compensation in wake of dioxin scandal
Are food safety controls sufficient in Germany?
German farmers should get to use lab controls themselves, pay a little more for it and not trust the word of a salesman. We consumers should be compensated by them and the food producers. -- Eduardo
It's always the same story. Instead of watching out a bit, the farmers cry for compensation. Does anybody really believe that they had no idea? Ridiculous. -- Friedrich
